New audio setup ;)

I want to get the Microvision screen and so far that is the only thing on my list. Now the fun begins

I will go ahead and say, I was HAPPY with the factory BOSE. I am also very cheap.

Headunit: I was thinking of getting the Microvision DVD/CD player until I saw it has no FM tuner
So I saw this JVC headunit - http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?model...thId=58&page=1

Is that a decent headunit? I can get it for around $200.

Speakers - I wanted to get CDT components up front and the coaxials in the rear but I do not have the money for an AMP. So should the CDT Coaxials all the way around sound better than the BOSE? - http://www.thezeb.com/p-CDT-Audio-CL...ers-101087.htm
It might get an amp later on since these speakers can handle alot.

160+200+140 = 500.

Anycombo better/cheaper than that?

Actually need to get an amp now for those coaxials. 80 watts RMS is the needed power to get them to move.

I'd hate to say it. But if you're wanting to keep it cheap... Wal-mart. Why pay for shipping when Pioneers out of Wal-mart sound decent.

OR... Sound domain is having a sale right now. You might be able to get a lot of stuff cheaper. www.sounddomain.com

http://www.cardomain.com/sku/CLASRR1635 or these http://www.cardomain.com/sku/CLASRS1625
Those in the front
http://www.cardomain.com/item/CLASRR1627
Those in the rear?

Which will sound better, those or the CDT all the way around?

Clarions have good highs. I have a set in my Max.

SRS1625 (front)
SRR1627 (rear)
and the amp (APA450) would sound the best. Use the components up front so your mids or highs won't get distorted.

This amp might give you a little more power. Plus I love how Jensen offers more adjustments than most other companies

Is it good quality? What about the speakers? CDT or Clarion?

Well I have never had any problems with Clarion, or Jensen amps (subs are a different story)

The only problem you'll run into with the CDT is they require 80 watts. You could get away with that if you used a 2 channel amp for them. And get a regular set of speakers for the H/U to push on the rear.

That clarion amp is only 40 watt x 4 @ 14.4 volts. That's a lot of battery power needed... so it'll put a big strain on the alternator. The Jensen amp is 75 watt x 4 @ 14.4 volts. That leaves a little more room if you push those Clarions.

When it comes down to it. you could do it these 2 ways.

1. CDT speakers (front), 2 channel amp, pioneer speakers (or other brand) for the rear

2. Clarion components (front), Clarion speakers (rear), Jensen amp. (that clarion wants too much power just for 40 watts)

Well you were after that JVC. Or take a look around sound domain and see what they have. If you don't mind a small blemish... their open box section has awesome deals.

if you got time, check out boston acoustics. they're very natural sounding, and nice clear highs that's not harsh on your ears.

If you're not using an amp but looking for better sound, you should just consider some entry level coaxials ... just about any of them will sound better than Bose.

Additionally, it's good to note that you can get cheap amps on ebay for $75 all day ...

Oh ... and headunit generally doesn't matter. Just look for the features you want and don't buy anything called "Dual" or "Pyle".

JVC, Panasonic, Alpine, Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc will all do fine.

I haven't had a warranty on my stereo equip since I started in car audio. Okay .. that's a stretch ... maybe like 30% of the equipment I have purchased over the last 10 years has had a warranty. When you get it for $75 ... when it breaks (if it ever does) you just throw it out and buy another one for $75.

MicroVision Screen = 160
JVC 5100 Headunit = 220
Jenson PS475 Amp = 95
Clarion SRS1625 Front Components = 76
Clarion SRR1627 Rear Coaxials = 56
Total = 607 With Shipping.

Should have decent Bass responce, correct?

Depends on what you call decent. Personally ... for me ... speakers 8" and under don't do it for sub-bass. They crank out midbass pretty well, but for real bass ... get a 10" woofer. In fact ... get a better amp that you can run three way with a 10" sub and you'll be set. Then you run your rear speakers off the headunit and the amp runs your fronts and a sub.

That's my official suggestion.

Well, I dout I will ever get a sub. IMO the Bose had decent bass responce(low and mid bass) compared to other cars and to Infinity speakers.
Those Clarions good or should I get something a lil lower or better?

The Clarions will do as well as just about any other speaker at the same price level.

won't fit my 3rd gen so you're out of luck on that.

BTW clarions put out really good mids... and excellent highs. They won't put out major bass. But they will thump enough to make your mirror shake. Of course I'm running off my H/U and not off a amp. So yours should come out really well.

Now Memphis M-Class speakers, especially the multisyncs will give you a lot of thump. Too bad the multisyncs are way out of your price range. $399 for a set.

Like it says in my sig, the board inserts are 250shipped.
And the entire assembly, tails and all, is 400shipped. That includes LED signal and reverse.

I went with around 70 feet (signal going to the trunk amps, front left and front right going from trunk to front speakers, and sub wiring as well as the two rear speakers) it was just enough.

Mount the amp under the seat and you'll need 30ft tops.
