What is your budget?

You should check out a set of Rainbow or CDT's

I just hooked up my Rainbow's two nights ago. So far they sound sooo sweet and clean, and I've still got tuning to do.

It really depends on the price you are looking to spend. CDT's, Rainbows, DYN Audio, MB Quart are all high quality brands. They vary in price depending upon the model you are looking to get.

Wow I just realized I was logged in under my friend's screen name at the computer lab - what a coincidence. That was me suggesting the Rainbow SL line.

Anyway...You probably will not get them off ebay because:
1. Everyone loves them
2. There are no authorized internet dealers.

You will have to look up local dealers in your area. Check out CDT also, they make pretty decent components.

Well instead of starting a new thread I was wondering if I should just get a pair of CDTs in front and an amp for that. Do I really need to amp the speakers in the back, I mean I have good speakers and all just wondering if its even worth it, considering i am the only one really driving the car.

A set of components up front amped. Then for simplicity's sake you can run a pair of coaxials in the back off your HU. That should do you fine...

for now....

Well answer this Don... have you actually heard the Memphis M-Class multi syncs?

I haven't heard the rainbows so I can't say for sure.

You can try a set of Mb Quarts, reference series should be under $200. Premiums are a little higher, but it's something to start with. Not much for bass but they are clean and clear, your subs make up for the bass when it is tuned right.

You can PM Don (Pearl96Max) I know he is a local dealer here in NJ however I am not sure what the rules are regarding shipping/internet sales, etc. If anything he can point you in the right direction.

On the same note...

How much, If I'm not installing a set of comps myself, should I expect to have to pay to have them installed? I've done everything else as far as my system is concerned, but I really want the components installed correctly so they look and sound good. The rears will get some aftermarket coaxials that I'll install myself... I'd like to do it myself, but I've never installed comps before so I have no idea what I'd have to do... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

They're VERY simple...its just like mounting two pairs of speakers..except theres a junction box in between them.

Full signal wire comes into the crossover, then the crossover has output for tweeter and midbass driver...You can zip tie the crossover into the doors. Tweeters can be mounted in your A pillars, just replace out the factory tweeters.

@djfreestyl...

I'm not so much worried about the mid, but the tweeter. My car is a GXE, so it doesn't have the stock tweeter location available, so I'd have to pick a spot for mine to go, and I think I like the spot on the door just forward of the door handle where you pull it to unlock the door. I'm worried about cutting and making sure it looks/fits right, so I'm considering the Q-Logic kickpods instead, but I haven't seen to many people with them.

Get a holesaw thats juuust smaller than the flushmount pod of the tweeter. Take your time, think...check twice, cut once.

The Q-Logic kickpods are decent for the audience they're targeted at. Feel free to contact me on AIM with any questions: DJ FreStyl

Nothing against the product, as Ive been carrying over 5years, but alot of people have tried and liked others. Ive actually replaced alot of Memphis things with other brands without customers looking back at all. I know your a die hard Memphis fan, but ya coul;d always try something new, yu could very much be surprised.

I have tried a lot of new stuff. And I'm a die hard Memphis fan when it comes to my truck. If you recall, I put a thread a long time ago about either Polks, Xtant (which I have never used) and also asked about Illusion Audio.

I just love how well the Memphis sounds in my truck, not saying it will sound good in my Max.

I knew illusion would perk your interest again... but this will pop it for you. The stereo has just been pushed to almost last thing on my list. Right before body kit and paintjob. A complete engine overhaul is in the works. Along with prep for my hoodscoop.

I just have to attend a class from Aug-sept. So I'm not going to be able to start any work till Oct. I need a longer vacation.
