6th gen aftermarket Nav systems

OK Orgers. looking for some good info on aftermarket car navigation systems to pass on to folks. I have been asked about this several times and frankly, since I already have a factory DVD Nav system in my car, I have had no reason to research it. So I'll ask the question.

Anyone provide info on a good aftermarket Navigation system that would fit (console or dash mounted) in a 6th Gen Max???

Criteria: CD or DVD upgradeable, 5-7 inch screen, reliable, won't break the bank, looks good in a 6th Gen.

Thanks in advance...

Best one on the market is the Pioneer Avic N2 $2,000 or N1, Its a DVD, Nav touch screen auto pull out screen. If hooking up to Bose you need a $50 adapter from Pac.
The N2 has a motion sensor so cant play movies while driving. The N1 very similar to N2 is cheaper because it older and also has a sensor but can be easily disabled.
Down side is that you will lose your steering wheel controls, need to relace bose head unit, So bye bye 6 disc in dash and tape deck. Also need a mounting kit $45.
I seen a couple people with it in here already. Im getting one very soon.

Eclipse units are far superior in Quality, dependability, reliability, warranty and as well as performance. Although they dont have the fancy bells&whistles to look at and play with that most kids like. They are also double din units to give the factory look.

Belal, the AVICs are decent and may be your preference, but certainly not the "Best on the Market"

BTW..ANY aftermarket unit can retain the use of steering controls, just an additional module is needed.

Thumbs up on the Avic D1... The eclipse was my first choice, but it wasn't without it's own set of flaws. I went for the Avic based on the fact it could be had for $500-600 less...

Here is a pic of the the unit installed in my max (5th gen)

Look into the 6th gen dash trim for the navigation version. (saw one on ebay a few days ago). I suspect that the opening is <= 2 din (which is an easy dremel/file job). Dunno how much clearance you have in the back behind where the screen goes, though.

P.S. honestly, I plead complete ignorance here, but if your car is wired for it, just get the hideaway unit and screen from a nav 6th gen maxima. Nissan has to sell the repair pieces.

I Just Purchased The Pioneer Avic N2 In Dash Unit For My 6th Gen, I Also Have Aftermarket Subs And A Amp, Which Are Still Working Fine. Although I Notice The Pio Isn't As Loud, As I Expected/should Be. Volume Goes Up To 62, Which Sounds Like It's Really At 52, The Bose Headunit Seemed As Though It Was Louder. At First I Thought It Was Just Me, But I Don't Think So.

Does This Have To Do With The Adapter From Pac Mentioned Above? Somebody Help
