This is true, but it seems my SL165s have more bass than the midbass drivers in the SLC265s. Not sure why this is, especially since one has a tweeter mounted right up in the center.

Then again, I haven't done any sound dampening yet, even though I've had the stuff for a few months now.

Interesting. I on the other hand have a LOT of dampening on the doors. We should meet up to compare bridged vs not, and the bass response in the 165's vs the 265's with and without dampening. I'm in central jersey, about 10 minutes from Don's place.

I'd like to, but I go back to school on Sunday for a while, and I'm pretty busy from now until then. I have been trying to get a tint job out of Don for a few months now, but I guess he's too busy. You probably have more leverage being so close. If by some chance he PMs me and says to come down for friday or saturday for tint, then we can meet up.

To the original poster-sorry to jack your thread.

The rear doors are a lil' more solid, smaller and actually I've noticed the same-could be also that in the avg seating position the rear speaker location are more inline pathlength wise from the side of the listener and quite noticeable, than the further forward, low and away position of the fronts- trust me dampning is your best bet in the front doors, ther SLC should provide enough kick in a solid door- they def will sound better putting some weigh/solidifying them. Quite honestly one of the more noticeable., gratifying differences one can achieve in a 5th gen

I pretty much have the same setup, SLC265s and SL165s and powered by a KAR 400.4

Not sure of what your issue is, but mine runs just fine
