I have 2003 max, NO bose, want to upgrade wthout losing controls on wheel, help

i used to have an altima and i put a nice system in it and the stock system in my max is horrible. I want to upgrade but im not sure what to do. If i put a new head unit in i lose the steering wheel controls and ugly. should i just get new speakers and amp them? but the quality probly wouldnt be as good as aftermarket. I was thinking about getting the bose head unit but it sounds expensive and complicated with the little amps i hear come with it. suggestions would be great, thanks!

If you go with an Aftermarket Deck you will need to purchase a PAC adaptor to regain use of your Steering wheel controls. Its $50 or so at crutchfield.

I think the correct PAC is PAC SWI-PS. Someone said the Pac X one isnt as good because it is infared and you have to mount an LED somewhere.

The PAC product SWI-PS will work for '05 Pioneer and Sony stereos. SWI-ALP will work with SOME '05 Alpine decks.
