'96 Bose unit question

Hey all. I have a '96 maxima with a BOSE unit in it. WHen i turn the car the unit powers up and acts like it is playing (CD time moves) but no sound comes out. THe sometime the sound will kick on about 15 minutes into my drive (really scares you sometimes). But the sometimes it goes out again. It sounds like the amp is loosing power or something because the sound doesn't just cut out it kind of fizzles away, like when you turn off a guitar amp and u still hear sound going through it for a few seconds before the power bleeds off.

Anyone ever have a problem like this?

Thanks!

my bose went dead, not in that manner, but after punching it so many times it just played one station, no buttons worked so i was stuck listening to the same thing everyday, no display either. took it apart, resoldered bunch of resistors and now it works, try that!

i have. a while back i had the "cd err" problem. Fixed taht by soldering resistors back. I might try to locate just the amp and do some tests on it.

Anyone else that has had this problem please reply.

I should be getting my new head unit today. Will probably install Sunday. I will report back whether or not it fixes the problem.

IT WORKED!

At least for now. The only way to tell whether it is going to go out again i guess is to just drive around with it.
