Memphis 1000D problem

I have a Memphis 16-ST1000D that I've had for a few years now pushing 2 Alpine Type-R 12s (4 Ohm DVC). Well for some reason every now and then it will cut out and the red light on the side (Port.) comes on. I cant find my owners manual so i have no clue what "Port" means. Anyone have any clues?

ST model... geez that's old. I can't think of anything of the top of my head except maybe a remote problem.

If you can't get an answer here (though I'm sure Don aka pearl96max will know) you can try here.

I think it's the PROT light [protection]. It's green if everything is okay, red if one or more of the protection circuits has been engaged. Does it go off if you lower the gain?

nothing is immune to age and wear & tear. Maybe a heat sink finally vibrated loose.

and if it's none of those... look into the fact that something internal rattled loose. And since it's shutting down after awhile, I'd say a heat sink

the 4 guage came out of the ring and was held in place by electrical tape so every time i took a corner the right way it would come off the ring. I didnt realize that was it b/c it is grounded under a side panel beside my spare.
