problems with amp

I have an eclipse EA2212 2 channel amp, and I can't even get it to turn on. I have the battery wire going from the battery to the amp, as well as the necessary ground wire from the vehicle to the amp. Also, no fuses are blown. For some reason, when I turn the car on, the amp light won't turn on.
Is it possible that the amp short circuited?

Test power and remote with a multimeter.

there doesn't need to be a cable hooked up to the "remote" input in the amp does there? just ground and battery right?

ding ding ding we have a winner. Did you do any research at all before you went to install this? Yes, it needs remote. The remote wire going to the amp is what turns it on, and it should come from the remote turn on output from the deck.

[ive been told i come off as a d!ck and im not trying to be so dont get pissed...but honestly you might want to have a reputable shop install it if you are having problems as elementary as these]

no...the remote from the head unit goes to the remote on the amp. that way when your HU is on, it sends a signal to the amp to turn on as well.

lol why would they give you a wireless remote and then have a wire to hook it up to ? Well anyway the remote wire sends a small signal which tells your amp to turn on and off with the headunit. So when your radio turns on so do your amps. Usually remote is blue and white.

just to be honest though, these issues that your having are things learned in Installing Your Car Stereo 101. Before you go and hook everything up, have someone you know that has experience look your stuff over. If you have a wire not going to where it is suppose to be going, you could just waste a butt load of money and fry everything.
