question about DVC subs

Can you run just one voice coil in a DVC sub ? they reason I ask is my older amp does not like a 2ohm load. So I need a 4 ohm load from my 2 subs (running mono). I was thinking a pair of 8 ohm subs wired for a 4 ohm load. However the selection of 8 ohm subs is a little slim. I know I could wire a pair of 4 ohm DVC subs have a total 4 ohm load. If my logic is correct I can not use 2 ohm DVC subs, since they would present a 2 or 8 ohm load but can't be configured to make a 4 ohm load using all four of the coils.

Any suggestions on subs ... my amp makes 320 rms in 4ohm. So far I have killed a pair of Kicker comp 12s wired in series (8ohm) ? I forgot I couldn't run the amp in 2 ohms. So I bought a pair of Nakimechi 4 ohm 12s they sounded like crap in series so I killed them one by one.

wire 2 dual 4 voice coils into 8ohms each speaker and then pair em to parallel to get 4 ohms and you will be fine...

Here... http://elliottelectronics.com/Spkwiringset.htm

New amp time. Something that will do 1ohm. With two dual 4ohm subs you can do either 1 or 4 ohm load very easily. These two options will give you the best results.

Look at me trying to spend your money.

I also just noticed at the bottom of that page, it has a listing of recommended wire size based upon the power of the amplifier. Good stuff.

Thanks for the info guys... I'm still up in the air with what to do. I might go back to a single sub for awhile. Seems like a waste with the big box in the trunk.

Ah, ok. That's on the entire other side of town. My nana lives over that way. US Amps is very close to where you live too.
