Hey guys....I've been reading the forum a little bit over the weekend, and I am really impressed with the amount of information this website has to offer on Maxima's. My girlfriend just bought a '98 Maxima SE...and it's very clean. However, her birthday is coming up and I want to replace the stereo system in it for her.

I'm not necessarily a novice when it comes to car audio, however I have no idea how to take a Maxima apart, and I'd like to do it without causing any damage to her car....so I have a few questions.

How do I take the door panels off?

How do I take the panels that run across the floor out?

How do I take out the rear speakers?

Where can I get wiring diagrams for the head unit so that I can splice into the speaker-out and convert it to line-out?

I know it's a lot of questions, but I'm very new to these cars and would appreciate it if someone could help me out.

Thanks,

Ethan

I'm not too familiar with the '98, so I'll pass on the first 3 questions. The fourth, if you're gonna replace the stereo, then get the wire harness along with the new HU. All connections are marked. If you purchase the stereo from crutchfield, they'll give it to you for free. If you're just gonna upgrade without swapping the HU, then check the current HU for wire diagram. If it's not there, try www.installdoctor.com. Finally, to convert to line-outs, you need to buy a line converter (Crutchfield $39).. otherwise, newer HU's will have that already.

good luck
