Remote start question

I am going to do my mom's remote start and I have to tap into the ignition coil for the tach wire and I was wondering. How do you do it? Are 3M t-taps acceptable or do I need to cut and solder the wires? I was leaning towards taps just because I did not want to cut into too many wires in her car.

Ive never used taps on anything, just because thats how I was trained at work...but I can say that you dont need to cut any wires besides starter, just strip it back a little so just a little of the wire is exposed and solder to it if you decide to go this route. Taps would work fine as long as their heat rating is high enough.

Great thanks, I am not sure at what the 3M T Taps are rated so I'll probable do the strip and solder. Don't mind messing up my car but it's a completely different story when it comes to my moms.
