harnesses
harnesses
does anybody know if there's a way to have the stock harness to the head unit harness directly connect without having to clip wires from each and solder them together? I"m trying to have direct connections all the way through in my setup. Also, I know that one of the wires in the head unit harness connects to the "remote" terminal on your speaker amplifier. However, since I also have an amplifier for my subwoofer, where do I connect the wire that goes to the "remote" terminal on the subwoofer amplifier, since that wire in the head unit harness is already being used by the speaker amplifier?
Your only option besides soldering is 'smart harnesses' from circuit city, one harness for the nissan side with a universal plug on it, and another from the universal end directly into any brand radio they sell. Metra does make a couple harnesses that go directly from the car to the radio but theyre very hard to find. Youd hook your amp remote to the same remote output even if its already being used. Blue/white output from the deck.
which metra wiring harness is the one that hooks up straight from the car to the head unit? I'm looking at the Circuit City website and they have a ton of metra harnesses. Also, my head unit is an Eclipse 3434.
Then, assuming the plug into your eclipse radio is 16 pin, in a 2 pin by 8 pin style, you need the Metra EC2X8-1763. I googled it and installer.com was the only place who had it at $30. You can try calling Metra to see if they have a list of places you can get it.

yeah, i know, that's what i've always done. But is there any way to get a clean, straight connection without having to do that? (that's why I bought the smart harness at installer.com in the first place)
Buy a harness from Crutchfield.com. They have harnesses for almost every make car ever made. As far as the remote wire, if you want to turn on multiple units, just tap in a y-connector or "t-tap" and you'll be fine. Just as long as you don't over do it by running too much turn on units, you'll fry the remote lead. In this case, if your turning on a number of units, it's safe to run a relay so that you don't overload the circuit. The remote lead is only meant to carry a 12V voltage to turn on certain components.

What you bought will give you all your connections directly from the radio to the car, plug and play. But no wiring harness is going to come with 17ft of remote wire attached to it, thats just ridiculous. Whats wrong with soldering or t-tapping your remote wire?
p.s. the crutchfield harness isnt what wanted. thats one youd have to wire up yourself.
