Over Heating Amp

I'm not sure what brand it is but it's a 600 watt amp that over heats after 20 minutes. What can cause this and what can I do to fix it?

if the amp is hooked up wrong, that'll do it. like if you changed the loads on the amp by adding speakers or subs or whatever that can do it. Like if the lowest your amp is rated at is 4 ohms and you hooked up something wrong and the load is 2 ohms, the increased power draw that that creates will overheat it. hope this helped

A friend of mine hooked up the system for me. I think I do have a box hooked up to it but I am not sure if there is any speakers running off of it. Can someone explain the ohms thing for me?
