new head unit

I just bought Pioneer 3700mp
for 100bucks
And i tried to install it
but after i took the cassett deck out
I was unable to fit my new cd deck into the spot
well the cd deck is about .5inch longer on the sides
how should i shave off the plastic
ps. i do not have many tools for grinding and stuff

damn dude that sounds ghetto...go and get some sand paper and lightly sand down the sides...if you dont even want to do that..get a knife and start whittling at it..have you ever whittled wood?..you know take of shavings 1 by 1 until you made something?..will take about .24 on each side off..and there you go..that way you would be able to fit it in snuggly. .24 x 2 = .48 ...so about .2 off from .50....so there you go..have fun

I can say Ive done every gen max, and my dad has that exact same deck. Sanding/grinding should NOT be needed, especially not 1/2 an inch.

Try puttin in the HU from the rear of the assembly. If that does not work you can unscrew the black trim piece from the metal bracket. Install the HU into the metal bracket and then put the black trim piece back on.
