Where Do You Guys Get Your Subs From (In particular Midwest/East Coast Guys)
Where Do You Guys Get Your Subs From (In particular Midwest/East Coast Guys)
Not trying to ask a crazy question and the reason why I ask is most of the subwoofer names I see you guys buying (Adire, RE, Avalanche) aren't readily found here in Socal or any other part of CA that I know of. Most of the shops I go to who do custom installs and other high end audio/video stuff for cars have never heard of those brands before (which I am surprised). Out here on the west side, JL, Kicker, Fosgate, and Sony are the predominant brands and not that I have anything against the first 3 (never been a Sony fan), I would like to get something different for the Max (right now I have 2 old school DVC's). Chime In.
check the company websites for ways to purchase products. RE makes you buy from a dealer if you have one withing 50 miles (hopefully you do not because t he prices are higher). ascendant audio is direct from Illinois and Adire is soley through dealers now although they have no subwoofers for sale yet i believe. good choice on straying from that garbage they sell in Cali.
Most subs OEMed from TC Sounds (Soundsplinter, Rythmik Audio & O Audio) are only available via the 'net as well with the exception of Eclipse. Elemental Designs is another internet only sub supplier. The Dayton series from Parts Express is available from their web site or catalog (where I used to order from in the '80's).
Another company with some potential is Exodus Audio. They are designed by Dan Wiggins of Adire and built at this factory in Chili. They are a less expensive alternative to the new Adire drivers. Available at Acoustic-Visions or DIY Cable.

Check out the classified section on Caraudio.com ... There has been a couple of Brahmas and Avalanches up there lately. Check out eBay also, u may get lucky and find someone selling those subs...that is if u don't mind buying used. Let me know what ur looking for and I'll keep an eye out for ya, I'm looking myself.
