right amp for speakers
right amp for speakers
I have the MB quart RCE 216. According to its specs, its power range is 60-130 watts. Does that mean I should power them with anywhere between 60 and 130 watts RMS? Or should I just power them with 60 watts RMS? I've been using a Diamond Audio D3 series amp that powers each MB quart speaker with 100 watts RMS. However, to get those 100 watts RMS, I have to turn the amp all the way up. As a result, it gets really really hot, and after about 30 minutes of blasting music, it sends a signal to the head unit and it turns the volume of the music down automatically. Is it not a good idea to turn the gain on amps all the way up? Should I just turn down the gain a little bit on the amp, or buy a more powerful amplifier so that I can get more power to the speakers when I turn the amp down? It all depends on the power rating of the MB Quarts speakers, which is unclear because they give a range rather than a specific wattage. Thanks a lot, sorry for the long post.
Basicly the range is your rating... if that makes any sense. You could turn down the amp... but a little more powerful amp could be a better way to go? Just so it doesn't work as hard.
I always like to use the practice of having the gain 3/4 of the way MAX.
