High pitched noise when accelerating?

I have this extremely annoying high pitched noise coming only when my head unit is turned on. It gets higher when I accelerate more (when RPM's get higher). One of my friend's told me it could have to do with "grounding" my HU.

Does anyone know what the cause of this is? It's been doing this for about a year, and I'm geting extremely sick of it.

Thanks,
Dan

Sounds like alternator whine. Do you have an amp? May want to check your grounds. This post may help:

Thanks. I just actually remembered my ground wire connecting to my speaker amp is currently disconnected. Is there a good chance this is causing the sound? I haven't hooked it back on since the peice which clamps the wire down fell off apparently.

Thanks.

and its working for you? Id spend the 1.99 and crimp and ground it properly. If that doesnt work try either a new ground, or grounding the rcas.

and you have the power wire to the amp still connected? if you do definitely connect the ground back up. if that doesnt do it check the ground on your head unit

99.9% of the time, alternator whine is caused by a bad ground. check all your grounds.
