I have a Solo S2 and no complaints (other than its $325 price tag).

Pros: Cordless (easy placement)
Cons: Cordless (batteries dont last too long)

Escort Passport X50 for the money

but I hope your Max speed **** gets a ticket. These radar detectors aren't an excuse to drive faster.

[Enter long rant about safety and ****]

Ill tell you what, Ive been drving around town w/ a Valentine 1 for the past few days........and it makes me NOT want to drive any faster than the speed limit.

Speeding is not cool, it's not the thing to do, but yes.....it's fun.

I speed regardless of whether or not I have the detector.

Sad fact: Highway speed limits (in their current state) are established for the sake of generating municipal revenue. They are set arbitrarily low and should be flexible, based on road/traffic/weather conditions.

I take them as Speed recommendations. Sadly most cops would not agree with me.

I have a Bel RX65. Best radar detector on the market. I have not had a speeding ticket since I bought it. But don't take my word for it. Check out this website.

Valentine One is the best radar/laser detector you can get

Valentine One is the undisputed champion in radar and laser detection.

V1 wins in radar detection.

V1 wins in POP detection.

"This year, the measurement of the radar and laser detection abilities of each of the over $200 units gives the Valentine One ($400) a small edge over the competing BEL Vector 995 ($260) and Escort Passport 8500 X50 ($300 with red display or $340 with a blue display) units."

Radar Roy from Radarbusters.com said this about the Valentine One, "Just spoke with Carl Fors from SML, his website will be going online tonight with the 2005 results. He has declared the V895, 8500 and the Valentine One as the top performers. Motortrend, who was also at the test, will be declaring the Valentine One as the top detector based upon its detection of laser.

All RADAR tests are variable. V1 and Passport are almost identical capacity, sources I've found have passport on top marginally. I am going to get Passport because I like it better. It's all your opinion.
