Ready to buy HU...

$150-$200 price range
I want something simple w/ remote, but looks good. I don't care about all the garbage that comes with it. I just want it to play CD's. Any suggestions?

Not to sure if this helps but Ive had my Alpine 9805 hu for at least three years and no problems whatsoever. Never had experience with eclipse but here only good things. Keep in mind my Alpine unit is one of the older ones which from what I understand were a little better than what they make now, but Alpine is definately a reputable way to go.

The general consensus here, and on other audio forums, is going to be Eclipse. Alpine used to make reputable, high-quality stuff. Unfortunately, they've taken the cheap route over the past few years. I bought a 9835 in January of this year, but I know my next HU will definitely be an Eclipse.

I need a new stereo and saw the one you bought and I like the specs. Where did you find the Eclipse CD5415 for $169? The lowest I can find is $200.
