custom kick panels?

anybody know where I could find custom kick panels for my 3rd gen, so that I can install a 3-way component system? Q-Forms doesn't make any I checked. If none exist, is there any way I could use the stock kick panels?

To my knowledge, nobody makes them. Either go custom or settle for stock or close to it locations.

Yep, looks like you may want custom kicks. If you're looking to keep it simple, you may be abel to put dome midranges and maybe a tweet too in there without doing more than drilling the right hole(s).

so i'll only be able to use dome midranges right? DLS makes some which I hear are really good. But the size of the midrange is only 2.5" diameter. Isn't that too small, considering that the midbass drivers would be 6.5" diameter?

You talking about the midrange in the UR3S set or the Iridiums. Soundwise I really prefer the Iridiums. Their midranges are a lil bigger. A pretty awesome set. You should (I don'thave a 3rd gen, but it's doable in the 4th) be able to sink in the midranges and the UR1 tweet with the 6.5's in doors. Sounds like a decent setup. You may want to dampen the kicks just a lil, but it should be doable without going too custom. Heck, get a good holesaw set and there ya go

Oh, and if they are indeed the Iridiums, nice speakers! The like lotsa power!

what's a hole saw set? And the midbass woofers give good enough bass so that you wouldn't really need a subwoofer right?

ummm IMO not really, though if you have the Iridium 6.5's with lots of power, they do really really well for 6.5's in well sealed/dampened doors, with lotsa power. But it aint a sub. Most would prolly be OK w/ it though.

The UR6 yellow woofer I wasn't nearly as impressed with (as the Iridium 6.5). Those are the only two I have personal experience wtih from the DLS line.

Holesaw: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=36222 nice n easy lil holes without trouble. Just choose the right size, hook it up to your drill, and make a hole

(though you may need this smaller set for the tweet http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=38425 but look hard enough, and you should be able to find a set that has from 1; to 5' or so.

oh yeah, i knew what a hole saw was, lol. Thanks anyway. I guess I'll just stick with my 2-way MB Quart reference components and my 10" MB Quart sub. I was debating whether to swap all that for a 3-way setup so that all the sound would be in front of my ears, but I think using the stock kick panels as opposed to nice Q-Forms kicks (which aren't available for 3rd gens) looks kinda cheesy, especially with the small diameter of the dome midranges.

Thats cool. I don't think it would look cheesy. Manny put domes in his stock kicks and it looks fine. But your'e the one that has to be happy with your car/system.

Problem is he'd need access to a 92 Maxima (if that is indeed the year you'd own) to make the bottom mold. Guess you're not too far from him, being in Virginia. I'm sure Don could make you a set of kicks too if you're willing to travel to Jersey.

Metal's definately got some glassing skills, though.

well it was bugging me long enough. I decided to go ahead and buy the DLS UR36S 3-way setup (yellow woofers). I'm gonna use the factory kick panels to do this. I bought the DLS RA20 amp to power each channel.

what do you mean "biamped." And by the way, this setup will work in a 3rd gen right?

Skierxxx5556, Q-Logic does make them for the 5th gen (Model#QL-K8002). A set of 5.25" components fit real nicely in them. You might be able to get away with a set of 6.5's if you back loaded them, depending on the depth of the driver. I've got them and love them with the 5.25's in the kicks and 6.5's in the doors. If you wanted the 6.5's down low and wanted them to look normal, then you will probably want to have them fabricated. On the Q-Logic kicks you have to make a cut in the door sills though....no biggie.

Shouldn't be too different in a 3rd gen.. I ran one amp active to the midbass, another amp to the passives, to the mid's and tweets.

damn, why'd you do that? Isn't one amp is enough cause all three drivers are all connected to the same crossover?

Yeah, it's enough. A lil more flexibility and powah on the midbass, but yeah, you'll be fine using the passives. Good luck!
