need help puttin this old DR system together ...
what's up guys,
I posted a couple weeks ago about pulling out the coustic DR setup from my celica before donating the car ... well I pulled out the subs, amps, xover, cap, fuse blocks and some RCA L connecters yesterday.
I also pulled out the back 2 speakers. I still have to check out the front 2 in the door, 2 in the dash and teh center channel speaker. I also have 2 DR line drivers underneath the passenger seat.
For the most part, I understand the setup in my celica ... 1 amp for the rear speakers, 1 amp for the front speakers and 1 amp for the 2 10" C10a Kicker subs.
The line driver setup is what is fuzzy to me ... I have to explore and see how the front 5 speakers are actually setup and what it's connected to. The amps itself has an option for "balance input" on/off ... so I dunno what the line drivers are for because according to research, that's what they do.
I had some feedback from another forum that recommended I might upgrade / change the speakers in my car ... I really only need the 2 in the front door and 2 on the rear deck in my maxima. Then, get a box for the 2 kicker subs. I think I'll need to use the cross-over since these subs don't have them, right? I have a DEH-550MP that I plan on using.
I am sorta confused in how to calculate the wattage these amps are putting out though ... the 2 505DR amp says "2x50w RMS" and the 510DR says "2x100w RMS" .
The component speakers are a weird brand that I couldn't really find info on ... called HECO AUTO HI FI - Tieftoner / Woofer - 4ohm.
Here are some pics anyways ... if anyone could suggest how to set this up or any feedback, it would be much appreciated.
Aslo, any suggestions for component speakers? If all else fails, I'll just get co-ax speakers all around and just add the 2 subs and 1 amp ... then again, I have alot of the equipment already so I'm tempted to use it.

The line driver setup is what is fuzzy to me ... Usually these are used to boost the signal from the headunit to the xovers, to allow you to turn down the gains on the amp to allow for cleaner operation and less distortion. These to me would be necessary units...But that is a personal preferenceI have to explore and see how the front 5 speakers are actually setup and what it's connected to. The amps itself has an option for "balance input" on/off ... so I dunno what the line drivers are for because according to research, that's what they do.sounds like its best to keep them then, they jump the signal up and more than likely the best possible sound with those components

I have a DEH-550MP that I plan on using. that gold badged piece in the middle of the other two amps is a xover. If you note where it says low pass, that is an xover for the subs. I cant remember if that model pioneer has a sub out, but if so you can set the xover and leave it and use the sub output on the pioneer to tune the subs from teh front, while upping the voltage to the amplifier with xover
I am sorta confused in how to calculate the wattage these amps are putting out though ... the 2 505DR amp says "2x50w RMS" and the 510DR says "2x100w RMS" .2 channels driven (Left and right) the amp will provide 50 watts to each side. So you have 50 watts to your front left and 50 o your front right. The sub amp is the same concept
The component speakers are a weird brand that I couldn't really find info on ... called HECO AUTO HI FI - Tieftoner / Woofer - 4ohm.me either sorry. If they sound alright run em till you arent happy, if you arent happy now, switch em out.

I have a set of infinity coaxes tha will be flapping in the wind in the next couple of weeks that youll be welcome to if my friend doesnt take em, for little of nothing. But try out what you have first.
