I have to install a new Sony Xplod CDXL550X CD Player Stereo Head Unit into my 1990 Nissan Maxima with the Bose Set-Up

The Bose HU had been removed before and replaced with a Pyramid HU. I ripped out the Pyramid HU and am left with bare wires coming straight from the car. I was told by the store where I bought the Sony that I needed an adapter thing in order to install the Sony...

Does anyone know about what they were talking about and how I can install this HU???

Please help!!!

wiring info if you do not want to buy a harness...

http://www.installdr.com/InstallDoct...san-Wiring.pdf

if you don't feel like cuttin wires, i think crutchfield and autotoys.com sells them. you can try ebay also. as for the actual manufacturers, the only one that i can think of off the top of my head would be scoshe.

hope this helps

Just if any one has any tips or suggestions. This would be my first time doing a HU Install, seems like I picked an "easy" *cough*bulls**t*cough* car to begin with...

But any help that I can get is appreciated.

For Example:

Ground - Does it belong connected to another wire or attached to the harness?

INSTALLED IT...

Ok, so I have it working (w/o premium wire harness)...

2 Things Though...

1- I had to connect the Remote-Turn On wire to the Power Wire directly... For some reason, When I connected the REM to its other corresponding wire on the car, The unit would not power up when I would turn the car on. Now, It's always powered unless I remove the face from the Stereo.

Am I risking anything by having it this way (EG - Draining Battery)?
How can I resolve this problem?

2- W/o the Premium Wire Harness, my volume and sound are fairly crappy. Supposedly the WH has a volume control which will let me to adjust the sound of the speakers...

Is there any other way around this?

THANK YOU!

Did you mix up initially connecting the remote wire to the power antenna wire? or the wire that turns on the Bose amps?

You could connect the remote start wire to the ignition ACC wire. That would make the deck turn off when the ignition key is not in the "ON" position...

The wire harness for the Bose system actually has level attenuation built in so that the Bose amps don't receive input power higher than their capability to handle safely. I highly recommend you get it.
