Thanks! He bought a G5 quad? Or another G5? There is a big difference between the quad and the duals.

G5 quads are really good for that kind of stuff.

That's hot, but it won't be a G5 then.

^^ I was thinking the same thing. here's my setup:

Peripherals are a must. F'ucking hot machine other than that though, and that's coming from a rather anti-mac guy.

Get some Logitech Z5500s, Klipsch's, or something (I got my X530s for $42 shipped...) and a good Logitech mouse--that will give you the whole package.

Jeez, nice mousepad though...

Yeah, it's a 2005... I read about a bunch of people having backlight issues but mine, to my delight, seems to be devoid of them for the most part. I do notice slight unevenness when all the lights are off and the monitor is entirely pitch black (but backlight's on obviously), but it hasn't bothered me at all. And I'm usually pretty picky about that sort of stuff.

DIGITAL - seriously, get some real speakers. Unless you are perpetually muted, you won't regret it. Still love that 30".

Sweet! Those thing's are truely beasts! I personally prefer PC hardware simply because I can build it with my own hands and there are more parts readily available to modify them. Here is a shot of my current setup

Seriously though, that G5 > any computer on the market at the moment. Very nice!

I just built a dual X2 4400+, 6gb PC4000, SLI 7800GTX

Dual 2405FPW's, two 0+1 arrays, PCP&C big black box, and water cooled. All said and done the bill rolled $10,800. Too bad it's not mine

Oh man, now that is sweet! More or less, that is a gamer's PC whereas Mac's are going to be workstations and editors. What is so crazy about that Mac is the fact that it basically has exactly what you listed, except it also comes with the possibility to upgrade to 16GB of ram I believe it is

Again, I'm more or less a gamer who does editing on the side, which makes the PC all the more vital with its ability to reach those latest framerates.

What chasis did you use for that beast?

The speakers are altec lansing, They do the trick fine, if I really want to rock out with my c**k out, I can connect my Bose Accoustimass 10 to it, thru my Kenwood reciever.

I just wanted something with nice crisp sound, and a little thump, nothing major. I use my Sony MDR-900's most of the time though, thats what I prefer over any other sound system, is a good pair of headphones.

The mouse is a logitech, optical. It does what I need it to. I've had other ones that are wireless, bluetooth, etc, with teh wireless keyboard, etc. But I use it way too much and it's stupid to pay for batteries every month, when I can use USB power. Makes more sense for my application, since I use it everyday, for the majority of my waking hours.

But if I was going for looks only, I would have the wireless stuff.

I like your setup, my pc setup is similar, I also have a glass desk. But it's not a wrap around like yours. Nice workstation!

I'm not going to spend extra money on speakers, I use my headphones more often than the speakers.

No, actually, I used the PC to redesign the banner. I don't have 3D rendering programs for the Mac yet.

Yeah they are beasts indeed. I still use my PC's everyday though. It's good to have both platforms accessible though.

On your current setup, my feedback is, DESK. Please. Give it to goodwill. :x

And that monitor looks like a 15"? You can find a 17" for 199$ at staples this holiday season. Treat yourself to one, if your funds allow it...
