You don't need an adapter of any sort. The speaker leads coming out of the back of the HU are line level. You can splice RCA's right into those for signal.

Type of box is dependent on the sub itself, as well as what sort of sound you are looking on achieving. SQ or SPL?

i dont know what SQ or SPL mean, and this sucks. cuz i have heard from tons of people saying that i defanitely need an adapter for the bose to hook up an amp and sub. but i have heard different from quite a few people.
where do you think i can get teh best deal on a JL 500/1 and the best deal on a box. im looking for just a vented box. not ported. thanks

SQ= Sound Quality...typically you use a sealed box
SPL = Sound Pressure Level...typically you use a ported/vented box.

You do not NEED an adapter, but you will have to isolate the speaker wires coming out of the back of the Bose, and tap/splice in RCA's. If you are uncomfortable with splicing, then a PAC will be a plug/play type interface.

Do a search on JL's website for AUTHORIZED dealers in your area. Chances are if they are an audio shop they will have a pre-fab box that suits the needs of the subwoofer you have.

edit: if you don't care about warranty, then you will probably find the best price on fleabay, although I don't suggest it at all....
