Hardwiring an Ipod

What's going on guys? Alrighty, the search function is down and I haven't been on these forums in awhile so if this has come up before, bare with me. If you wish to flame, flame on.

Anyway, it's looking like I will be getting an Ipod for xmas and I don't really want to deal with the Itrip (reception problems..) Sooo, I was wondering how hard it would be to hardwire the Ipod into my aftermarket HU (Kenwood)? I was thinking possibly using RCAs or would it be through an AUX output? If anyone has done this and would like to give feedback on the install and difficulty, I would appreciate it. Also, if anyone has pics for mounting that would be kick ***.

Thanks alot guys.....

if you want to go RCA -> minijack, then its a matter of pullin out the radio and routing your cable wherever you want the iPod sitting. difficulty lvl: easy

if you want a more permanent solution, may i suggest the Harmon/Kardon Drive + Play. You get a slightly larger screen you can mount in your field of view and a little control **** you put wherever is comfortable. not only does it charge the battery in the iPod, but it fully controls it, so, if you want, you can put your iPod inside your armrest or glovebox cubby hole. looks sleek to boot. demo it at any Circuit City if you wish. difficulty lvl: depends on vehicle. i don't know the underdash of any max other than the 3rd gen and there was plenty of room back there. you do have to not only mount the screen, but also the control **** and brain.

If you have a Kenwood why don't you just get that kenwood iPod adapter. Well it is a tad bit diffcult to navigate while using larger iPods with lots of music on them.
