Poly-fill ?

Ok so I just made 2 custom boxes and was wondering if by adding this stuff would make any sound difference? How good is this stuff and is there any other material that can be used?

You should be using it only if your box dimensions are too small for your sub. Its typically not just thrown into an enclosure for the hell of it....

it just tricks the sub into thinking it's in a larger enclosure. it'll help a bit with the lower end.

if you have a ported inclosure make sure you use some kind of mesh to prevent the stuff from blowing out or getting stuck in the motor assembly.

is there actually a point in using fil in a ported box? i have seen it done either way, but have never gotten a good answer. maybe if the box was still too small? ported boxes are larger (than sealed) anyhow.

i don't see the need for it. the whole point of the ported box is the tuning of the box. different tuning plays a role on how the sub responds in that box.

I have heard it slightly lowers the tuning of a box...but who knows.

Its the same concept as sealed. Makes it seem as though there's more air volume in the box. But polyfill should never be used if space is not an issue. A properly tuned box should not need polyfill to compensate.
