how does connectingan external dvd player to my system work?

Hey guys, i currently hae a pioneer dehp 8600 hu in my car with satelite radio. I am wondering how i would plug the audio in to the head unit. And what setting would i put my headunit on so that the sound will play. I know for the satelite radio, i have to switch the HU to "External" so if i switch it to the dvd player, what will it show up on the Hu? External 2?how does this work?
I'm not sure but, is there extra audio input wires for this or was it taken up by the satelitte radio? Its just that i cant remember how i hooked it all up. Id go check right now but its late and cold outside. I was hoping someone can help me out. Im planning on buying a flip out screen and dvdplayer to hook up to the dehp 8600. Thanks

Pioneer, dependent on what xm unit you have, offers the auxilllary input options through the cdrb20 and cdrb10. These plug into the ip bus slot and offer an option for input. You need to go with the cdrb 20. Your xm if not fm modulated (Since you have to go to aux instead of fm, then it shouldnt be, should have an input IPBUS slot. Plug your CDRB into that and it should allow you to piggy back the units. Pioneer used to work up to four units unsure how many now.
