AVIC-D1 troubleshooting

Just got it installed yesterday! It's working great except for some problems.

1. The volume of the ENTIRE unit is quiet. If I max it out at 62 its loud but not loud enough. My old N1 was nearly blowing the stock boses speakers at 40. So something is not powered right I don't know. Any ideas?

2. The navi control only works while car is stopped. The guys who installed it put a switch in to fool the unit to think it's parking brake is on. This works. However, when the car begins to move, it recognizes this and believes that the parking brake is off. This is no good because it grays out the navi button and prevents it from working while driving. My old N1, after this same shop installed it, allowed everything to work durng driving, even DVD playback. Any ideas?

I'm psyched how the unit works besides this problems.

Ground the e-brake line to the chassis...no problems, mate.

Not so sure about the other problem...are you running off of the Bose amp?

How do I ground the e-brake line to the chassis?

I'd imagine it's running off the Bos amp. The last time they used a PAC OEM adaptor so I imagine they're using it again.

Tomorrow I'm going to take it to the shop where it was installed. Could they ground the e-brake easily then?

also, if anyone can recommend me a good place to put the navigation antenna that will be great... is it cool if i just put it behind the unit inside the dash ? will that interfere with anything?

To ground it to the chassis all you need to do is simply sand a spot by the shifter down to bare metal, drill a hole, and ground it with a screw. HD self-tappers work wonders for this.

I would double check to see if they did indeed install the PAC-OEM...sounds like they didn't.

They ran mine through the dash and had it come up right where the windshield meets the dash on the passenger side all the way to the side.

Metal, Yeah they probably didn't install the adaptor. Strange because they had the first time.

ARGH!!

Just grounding the parking brake doesnt work with the D1. You need to add a ground to the main harness...

Everything's cleared up and works perfectly. I just took it back and an hour later it was all fixed.
