Best sub replacement to use in the front of 3rd gen?

I need to take out my sub to make room, but also need to upgrade my front speakers as well. I allready have the back speakers upgrades, which sound nice, and have a fair amount of bass, but I'd also like to have the front speakes put out a good amount, while still maintaing sound quality.

I haven't had a ton of experience with audio, besides just wiring up all the speakers, but from the looks of it, I think component speakers might be my best bet to go with. But any other suggestions to have a fair amount of bass up front, while still keeping decent sound quality?

Probably wouldn't work to buy a little 10" sub and put in underneath the front seat....

(also, I have a 3rd gen GXE that used to have bose- so I'm probably going to have to make a little something out of wood to hold the speakers anyway, so will probably be able to put in any reasonable sized speakers)

So far these two are ones I'm looking at, the clarions appear to have better bass, and although I have infinity in the back, I don't want ear piercing highs when I turn them up a little...

on my 3rd gen, i bought some MDF mounts from james92se to house some 6.5s".

but yeah, components is the way to go, and feed them nice clean power from a dedicated amp.

I'm going to buy on ebay - so, about $60-$100, or $150-$260 retail, from what I've seen so far....

well, those infinity reference you posted above are pretty decent. my friend has a set in his older oldsmobile powered by a 200 watt mtx amp. sounds pretty good for the price spent.

Any other suggestions? The only thing I am worried about the infinityies is there will be too much highs, where if I want extra bass, the highs will hurt my ears if I turn it up..

A good set of component crossovers usually has an attenuation switch to lower the level of the highs. Look for that in your search.

The infinity set does have the attenuator, it is either set at 0 db or at -3 db. So you'd in effect be cutting the tweeter output in half with the crossover set at this position.
