Aftermarket HU and sub with stock BOSE speakers

Anyone running this setup in a 02/03 Maxima? I will be getting an AVIC D1 installed in a couple weeks and thinking about putting in a sub. Did you take out the stock sub and put an aftermarket in its place or use a completely new box? Do the stock BOSE speakers sound fine or should I replace everything at once? Thanks for the help.

the best option would be to replace the sub with a new one in the trunk not the factory loc. To save money just replace the front bose tweets. Otherwise replace all for best sound (+ amp the speakers but of course)

You can get an 8 inch free air sub to replace the one in your rear deck. You may have to snip the metal, and will probably have to dampen the rear deck because it will rattle.

Youll be better off with a seperate enclosure.

The speakers will sound fine.

Replace the D1 before you buy it.

I did this for a whole 2 months (I told myself I won't get a whole system). I had NO bass AT ALL. I don't think the factory sub was working at all. I'll go with replacing everything at one (budget permitting ofcourse).

Minus the tinsel lead (I think thats what it's called) snapping off and the amp falling off the seats, and the dash kit snapping on me and the CD8454 not reading discs......

None of those were my fault!!! I never pushed on that sub, the HU messed up on its own, the dash kit broke when I wasn't in the car (stil trying to figure that one out), and the amp.....(installed by you)

All still functioning now was my point. Like I originally said when you made the purchase, buy it ONE time and thats it.

So I take it you're not a huge fan of the D1? I got it as a Christmas present but can always return it. What do you suggest in the $1000-$1500 that is double-din navi? I'l buy it from you if you have it. Metal Maxima will be doing the install though.

I dont have anything really against it, although there are better things available. If it was a gift you could always keep it to spare the persons feelings. I didnt realize you already had it.

What do you think about the Eclipse AVN5435? I can get one of those for about $1400.

seeing if this is still alive and looking for some advice. I've replaced my Bose 6-disk changer with an aftermarket stereo. Got that working fine. I'm now looking to connect an amp and sub that I already have. What do I do with the stock sub and amp in the trunk? To get all the speakers to work I had to connect the amp power wire (the low power one) from my new stereo to the amp power wire to the rear amp. If I disconnect the sub and amp in the trunk would I loose the sound to the other speakers?

Just unplug the Bose amp.

I have no idea what you are trying to say about the low power wire and the rear amp power wire. Please clarify. Read the stickies before you post again. It MAY just answer your questions
