Im stumped

For about a years time my system was working fine. A couple days my sub just stopped working completly. I checked the fuses in the amp, theyre all good, the amp lights up and all whatnot so I know that its getting power. Everything else works fine except I cannot get sound to come outta the woofer. Do you guys have any suggestions of where I should look?

Check the tinsel (i think thats what its called, its the wires that lead from the terminals) leads. I had the same problem with my Rainbow sub, soldered it back on and it works.

so it just suddenly stopped? can you (carefully) push the sub in and out without much force?

it tests whether or not your voice coil(s) are seized. there's NO movement at all when you have music playing?

test with another sub. if you don't have one, test with another speaker. keep the gains low.

if you have a meter, test to see whats comin out of your speaker terminals on the amp.

Ok i tested it with another speaker and I got sound to come out, so I know its not the amp thats fuggered. Is there anything partiular that I should be aware of on the sub itself?

Besides what Ravi (MacAlert) said, I'm all out of ideas. There should be a way to meter your sub in ohms to see what resistance it has, and if the number is an anomaly then that indicates a problem, however I am not sure about the specific logistics of that test.

Sounds like the VC is blown. If you have the sub hooked up and you push in on it a little bit does it start to play?
