hmm i see ... mine is currently coming outta the sunroof but id rather not "advertise" to everyone that i have a Navi Unit even though it might not be that noticeable. i thinkin of having it come up from under the time clock pod near the windsheild. considering that it shouldnt affect its reception.

I'm not at all familiar with the installation of the D1, but why is the din kit appear to be hacked up? Was it necessary for the install, or was this not a kit, and you made the mounting thing yourself. Just wondering because of the unusual slanted gap under the D1. A friend of mine and I are planning on a similar install, so I'm just curious as to what to expect. Otherwise, that thing looks sick, nice work!

thanks! well where i had it done, created a draft of what it could look like .. didnt have time for them to redo it the same day ... yea they did mess up on cutting the bottom portion. thats what im gonna have them redo if theres no other option as far as kits are concerned. i understand the the GXE kit could be another possibility but it doesnt beat gettin another kit cut properly for free. think they used a non-bose kit from the manufacturer they get it from so they had to cut it up as you can see ...

I was gonna wait until MetalMaxima fixed the gap, but I will send you a pic of my install with the GXE kit. If you can, please post it up here.

PM me your email BigLou so I can send it to you.

You could use the GXE kit offered at courtesyparts, no? Or is it just too expensive?

Yes, that is the vent I used, but there is a noticeable quarter-inch gap on the bottom. Except for that, it fits perfectly and looks OEM. Hopefull BigL0U can post a pic up here that I sent him showing that gap.

Hmmm, I sent it a few days ago and never got a return mail back. Send an email to ted9778@aol.com and I will reply back. That way, there should be no doubt about your email address.

I like the GXE kit way better .. these are TXT-1's pics by the way:

Thanks Ted. Id rather figure out a way of filling that bottom gap then getting prescise measurements to re-do my kit and still have the "picture frame" look...

HOW TO: fill out bottom gap below a D1..ill tell you how...

you can get a piece of plastic that will fit in that spot and mount it in there and from behind do something like hotglue...then put a..Security light?

just a suggestion.

right on... or perhaps an LED or 2 ..OR 3 ...yup sounds like ill be replacing it with the GXE kit ... QUESTION: Does this GXE Kit come with the brakets and all that hold it up from behind? OR do you use brakets that you already have?!

The vent just pops in, you just have to make sure you push it in hard enough.

i know the vents are plug and play but thats all the kit comes with? Vents and frame? cuz if i leave the brakets it has now the unit might stick out too much... correct me if im wrong. also considering that black lil trim that comes with the unit to cover up how much its exposed from the deck.

It's just the vent. You are making it sound harder than it is. Your installer hopefully used the brackets from the stock HU. Once the HU was screwed in, than you just pop the vent on top of that and it will click right in like it was stock. If your installer did not use the stock brackets but instead instead used custom brackets, I am not sure how that would turn out. I would get the stock brackets on there.

If you have further questions, I would PM MetalMaxima as he was the guy that installed my stuff.

i dont think the installer did use the stock brackets if the unit is sticking out like it does. since he also had to add on that black plastic frame. otherwise the brackets would have held the unit flush with the deck right? how can i get my hands on stock brackets?
