Not too sure what those two pockets are on either side on the floor near the tails. Maybe some sort of ports?

Saw this awhile back. Supposedly done at Tweeter. The guy that was posting about it was a real putz and was flamed to no end for his snotty attitude.

On a side note..clean job, but its JL......

Probably because it looks nicer than on a side, aesthetically pleasing if you will.

Right, but i guess i would have gone with two side by side to try and fill up the space better.

were the rear seats permanently removed, or were they reinstalled?

Looks like a monster of a spoiler on the trunk lid.

The sub install looks good. Nice use of colors and paint.

Like BBoyStevie said, it's not my style. Looks like it's all for show.

Are there any more pic's of this install?

Overpriced. I would rather pay for a product than a name. I also personally like my power supplies UNregulated and to not interfere with my FM tuning. Theyre a decent company if the price came down along with the hype that follows them.

If I offend anyone, then sad to say I am Not sorry. These are my opinions and Ill stand by them.

I appreciate the support, but it comes down to each their own. Unfortunately JLs marketing team gave alot of people tunnel vision of their products making it appear to be 'the best'. Hats off to them for that as they did an excellent job. Although my 17 years in the industry simply tells me their nothing better than mainstream. Its just unfortunate for the consumers that get caught up in the hype and spend their hard earned dollars on something that is sub par when something better can be had for the same or less money.

kinda like sony and bose home audio.

bose is good if you just want to throw a couple of speakers together to simulate surround sound if you dont know anything about home theatre, but for the same price you can prolly get 5.1 or better setup for true surround.

this post is way off the thread, sorry. just something that really pisses me off. marketing usually ruins everything. all lies i tell ya.

Forgive if I've missed those. I'm not really starting an argument, or trying to hi-jack this thread. But some personal opinions have surfaced and said that JL may not be the best speaker for this install. So lets pretend that I'm Joe Consumer, I've heard of MTX, Kenwood, Sony, and Alpine stereo's. Not much more. So those are the name brands that I start looking at first. I wanted a 10" speaker and Installer X proposed a JL 10W7 speaker for my needs. He says that they are better than the brands that I came in knowing. And recomends 500W RMS for my needs and budget.

Now lets pretend that Pearl96Max is Installer Z, and he has some better ideas for speakers and even better prices. So what would those speakers and prices be?

(Personally, I don't even know how much a JL 10W7 even costs, or what it sounds like.)

So I've seen names like Diamond and Eclipse and Rainbow tossed around here. I assume that are exotic and perhaps higher end than the JL's. And I'm sure someone else will be able to address the exact reasons why those would be recomended ahead of a JL speaker. But, I still beg the question, what are the recomendations that I should consider to replace this line of speaker? (Should I add; "and why?")

Obviously, the budget would be equivilant to the price of whatever the JL subwoofer costs. Let's just use retail prices to keep things fair. So the first suggestion looks like a DLS SP15. Also a TC2+ 12" speaker would be good. The Adire Brahma MK Seris would be good. And finally the Resonant XxX series. All of which will be equal to or less than the cost of the JL, but would result in a better performing speaker?

Thanks for the suggestions. I've never actually heard of most of these, but I'll start looking (listening?!) for them when I'm ready to shop.

JL did their thing I feel with the W6 woofers. THree woofers able to be run off of the hc or hv amps of the day and take up as much airspace as two normal woofers, thus increasing cone area and by extension output REALLY made them a frontrunner. From there it just ballooned and has gotten to the point taht the items dont necessarily match up with the price tag. The thing is from name recognition of when they made those wonderous speakers, it is now their time to sahine as it was before fosgate and pioneer were HOORED out to best buy and such.
I will admit to being one that loved JL with no end but when it gets to the point that technology doesnt affect the output of a speaker to me its time to move on. I ran 6 of the ten w6s in my car and was extremely happy with them for the time that they resided there. But upon leaving I went to four.
When the new w7 was released it had tech. advances that made it a propietary piece but nothing that really set it at what the asking price of that technology was (For the "serious people") now if you want to be able to say yeah "I live my life a W7 at a time and with that mediocre sound Im free" then yeah hop on and pay for alot less performance than you can get with any number of lesser known woofers, that compete more along the lines of "hungry" like JL was when the dual six ohms came out...

just my opinion though...and ive run alot of jl.
