All of which will be equal to or less than the cost of the JL, but would result in a better performing speaker?
Thanks for the suggestions. I've never actually heard of most of these, but I'll start looking (listening?!) for them when I'm ready to shop.

. My old sub was rated very high in a few comparos, but the enclosure size kills it. The dls is a larger woofer that will req almost 1/2 the enclosure.as well figure that they salespeople at the store will push what they sell that has the highest profit margin...
I love how it seems every thread started which includes the name JL Audio turns into an anti-JL Audio thread.
I could care less which sub they used, I just thought the setup was pretty amazing.

Well, JL Audio still isn't a bad company. Its not a brand that I would associate with the likes of Audiobahn, Visoneer, Kenford etc. though.
I myself have ran a trio of 12W7's in my Toyota Tacoma and was happy at that moment. At the time (Mar 2003) they ran about $450 each and the seemed like a great deal vs. what I knew back then. Of course I jumped on it, had a custom install and was on my way.
While they aren't the best (I doubt there ever will be) they arent bad. I wouldn't personally buy thier gear again unless it was at a super price, and I had the need for more car audio equipment. I like thier amps and subs, I hate the rest of the line.
On, and the W6 sounds better than a W7, but thats just my

Very nice, clean work - very classy.
We just did a G35 "demo" car not that long ago for JVC - yea yea, I know, JVC equipment, but they hired us to do a job
