New iPod solution.

Alright, this only applies to those of you who A: have only $30 to spend, B: don't care about looks, C: want to be able to change the track etc with your factory stereo (or any other stereo with cassette player) and D: don't need your ipod to be charging while you listen.

I do not personally endorse this item, and it has gotten VERY mixed reviews on Apple's website with many owners (of older cars) saying that it didn't work as advertised. However, our cars have nice cassette players and I think it would probably work.

i tried it, the controls didnt work, at least for me they didnt, and while it was running, it made a ton of noise. i now have a sony cassette adaptor that is hardwired so no wires are visable, works like a charm.

yeah, i too had that idea, but it doesnt work. with the factory 00 max radio, there is no play/pause, just ff and rwd. mine actually ended up with an electrical short, so its a ****ty quality thing. my friend has the griffin iTrip, which is a better way to spend your money for iPod transmission to radio.

I currently have the Monster tape adapter and the rattle is driving me crazy .
So, Id love to explore other options. What do you mean by sony cassette adapter that is hardwired?
i was thinking of getting the monster icruz (which is now $99 for the 2 modules and the lcd screen) but its really cold right now and wont get a chance to install it until things warm up.

well its not hardwired exactly, but i took out the HU and ran the wires for the adaptor behind the faceplate so you cant see them. i then connected the headphone jack to a product by belkin which plugs into the docking port of the ipod. so it charges the ipod as well as relays the ipod signal to the cassette adaptor. i have the belkin thing actually hardwired the the a/c socket wires. so all that you see from the setup is the dock cord coming out of the side of the shifter console. not sure how clear that is, let me know if you dont follow

I bought this for my 6th Gen and it squeeled like a dying cat the whole time and it didn't work my iPod controls. I returned it the next day. The site does say it may not work with some vehicles. I'm using the simple $20 Griffin tape adapter now. Its serving the purpose for now til i can get a better more permanent sounding solution.

I wish I had more hands, so I can give this product 4 thumbs down!

I have a fix for all of you with the monster tape adapter! I had the same problem. Now, this WILL work for the stock '00 bose HU, but has not been tested in the non-bose, and doesn't work in my dad's acura for example, but all you have to do is take an exacto knife to the teeth on the playing side. I don't remember which side it is, but I'll take a pic tomorrow and post it here.

EDIT: sorry this took so long. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....31#post4813131
