Rate the following brands...

Looking for input on which brand is liked the most here. Please specify if the brand's speciality lies more in speakers, subs or component systems by rating them from a scale of 1-10. I.E.

Alpine: Speakers aren't that clean. The bass is muddy. 6/10.
Component system's aren't that great either. 5/10
Subwoofers are average. 6/10

So, if you have experience with the following -- please comment. Perhaps we can eventually form this into a sticky. If I missed some, feel free to tell me and I'll edit.

Alpine
Arc Audio
Audiobahn
Blaupunkt
Boston Acoustics
Clarion
Crunch
Crystal
Diamond
Eclipse
Infinity
JVC
JBL Audio
Kenwood
Kicker
Lightning
MTX Audio

I understand this, that's the point of this thread to gather opinions. If you have experience with any of the brands, just share. I'm not asking to comment on everyone.

This thread should not be a sticky...most of these companies have higher/middle/lower lines. Some offer all around car audio products, some do not. Some are boutique brands, some are more commercially available. Some cater to specifically for the SQ market, some offer both sq/spl oriented products. Too many things to compare, and not to- it would become a mess.

Being a company's reputation can go up and down like the NASDAQ, any subjective lists cannot serve anyone any help.

I'll pass as well.

My God...so review your experience with whatever product you used. This is such an easy concept made so terribly complicated for no reason.

That's the main reason why we won't touch it. Someone will put down a rating, and some people will jump on it, and say they're wrong. It becomes a mess, even if you can delete the non-rating posts. It was tried before on the NissanFrontier.org forums by another mod. I ended up just closing down the thread because it was such a nightmare.

You're also going to run into people who will be upset for not representing all the brands. Rainbow, Memphis, CDT... etc.

The list is funny, cause a brand can move anywhere up and down that list during certain models, years, etc. Example, Soundstream was good a few years ago, but due to their recent customer service, they would now be under bad. And that's mainly IMO.

And that list isn't even complete either. I used to have a old Logic amp, made by Autolab, don't see either listed on there. It was a very good amp too. It was also noted in the thread, that Cadence wasn't among the list either, nor did I see Sound Splinter. And that thread isn't even 1 year old.

plus you also run into problem of people being biased. They tried a certain amp, or speaker, and it blew on them. Now they have it in their mind that it's junk. Good example. RF Punch Z subs. I had 2 12" that lasted me 3 years, and has lasted a good friend for another 1 1/2 now. But according to most people they're junk because they blow too easily. Haven't had that problem with my old ones Usually this comes around to people's own fault for over powering, or pushing them too hard. The average life a Punch Z here 2 years ago was only 4 months if that.

I believe before any list can actually be done, there needs to be a controlled test on products. But that would take to long, because any good quality sub and amp, given the correct setup, will last for YEARS.

There's too much subjectivity to take into consideration too. One person may love how a certain item sounds, another may call you a crack wh0re and say your nuts.
