3-way components in 3rd gen?

Anybody know if a 3-way component system (with dome midranges and tweeters) can be installed in the kick panels of a 3rd gen maxima?

Yes, it is possible.

With minimal work, maybe not.

Yes it is possible....I'd recommend putting the midbass drivers in the doors, midrange drivers in the kicks, and tweeters either in the in the kicks (right next to the mids) or up in the pillars (this is where I'd probably put 'em, depending on the type of tweeters). Play around with the position/location of the mids/tweets and what direction they point in before doing custom work and permanently mounting them. I wouldn't put the midbass drivers in the kicks because there isn't enough space to build enclosures that have enough volume for midbass drivers to go low like they will in the doors (as long as you seal/deaden the doors)

Just so you know, I have a 3-way (4-way, including the subs) in my 3rd gen

I'm not too familiar with the 3rd gen kicks, but see how much room is behind them. You may be able to just put the mids and tweets in the existing kicks rather easily (midbass in doors). If you have to glass, you may be able to still use the factory kicks and make it a relatively easy job.

If you wanna go ***** out, consider removing the plastic kicks, cutting out a lil metal, and get the domes and tweets WAY out there. Holy wide soundstage batman

i'm just afraid that even the dome tweeters and midranges will prevent the kick panels from being securely screwed in. Also, how would I secure the passive crossovers??

which of these 3-ways then?

-or-

-or-

The first one has the largest midrange (3"), but the third one has the highest wattage rating (150 watts), so I'm undecided.

just a bit off topic, but check to see if they're authorized dealers of DLS.

i wasn't gonna buy the speakers from them. I just used their sites for the information. And yes, the specs are correct as I already compared them to those on the DLS website.

there are two boss audio amps, both with the same previously mentioned specs, one that puts out 100 RMS x 2, the other 150 watts RMS x 2

Arc Audio 2500 or 4150-XXK, but...I'm biased. I know a certain moderator of the A/V forum has a killer price on some right now...

you do realize that other components of your audio, not just the amp, will affect the final noise level right?

I personally think the Iridiums are a HUGE leap over the UR's in midrange detail and definately the midbass department. I used to run the UR36s set and have listened to the iridiums. No experience with the UP's

As far as fitting the mids in your kicks easily as a drop in, it may not just drop in. A lil metal trimming can do wonders, or you could build it out with fiberglass, or a little combination of both. All depends on your system/car goals. It may turn out to be minimal work with a lot of benefit though. Get down there and poke around and see what you think.

As for amps, as others have said, there's a lot of better options out there. Come back with a budget and maybe someone will help. Arc is popular here and a solid amp. Not many on this board are into it, but some of the audio forums have established respectable members always selling good amps cheap, so thats another option. If you check em out daily you'll find killer deals on amps that'll blow away Boss. There are tons of others that'll do ya better than the Boss.

yeah, that boss looks really messy hahaha. I'll just get the eclipse 2212 amp (50 watts RMS x 2, 105 db s/n ratio) and a pair of diamond audio coaxials and run them off an alpine CDE-9841 head unit that also has a s/n ratio of 105 db. Thanks a lot guys!
