I was told if its farther out more the basss is louder but pushed in its less... where do I put it? atm I have it pushed out

 

If you can move it, why don't you try different positions and see which one you like the best?

 

I agree with D Love, you just gotta keep moving your box around until you find what sounds the best. There is no one best way, everyones will sound different and no everyone is looking for the same thing... I have mine all the way back except mine subs are on the top pointed at the trunk...
