viper 690/691xv help urgent!

I havent armed the alarm in at least a year and a half... today I decided to toss a battery in the transmitter (played its little song and lit up fine) and go outside to test it. No matter how hard I pressed the buttons the alarm wouldnt arm or disarm... the trasmitter just beeps at me like its out of range, etc. So I sat in the car and continued to press buttons to see if anything would work... well, the "arm" button worked... and the alarm went off... no biggie right, just press disarm... except that aint workin'. Nothing's working. One of the shock/permimeter sensors must be out of wack because it KEEPS GOING OFF. The doors to the car are unlocked... if I open them, the alarm will go off - how can I disconnect this thing?? Thanks in advance.

pull your under dash down and unplug everything. Make sure if your automatic that you reconnect the starter wire together.

Ok, so I clipped the wire to the siren, no more sound.... still can't disarm the system though, so blinky lights and kill switch means no car.

How the hell can I disarm this thing completely? Any help appreciated. PM me if you need to.

Before you do that,

press all the buttons of the remote at the same time, it will reconnect to the brain.

If I don't know what I'm supposed to unplug couldn't this have bad consequences?

what about your valet button?

You pressed them all at the same time? That's how to re-engage your remote to your alarm.

Got your manual?

The valet button I know where it is, but I don't know how to use it or how many times I have to hit it.

Yes, I pressed all the buttons at the same time... well, held them in until it beeped.

No I do not have the manual for this, I barely ever used it once I got it then just left it dormant for so long.

Any suggestions you or others may have that can help me out I'd really appreciate it, I definitely need to drive sometime soon...

Channel 2.... you mean the unlock button on the remote? I don't think that will work since it's not responding to that now... I'll give it a go though!

When I press the unlock button the "tx" comes up on the remote, and then it beeps back it me like it's out of range.. I even unstuck the antenns from the windshield and unplugged it, plugged it back in... stuck the two next to each other, and still won't receive the command... can't make the remote do anything... tried the thing with the valet switch too and still no go most likely because of the remote....

HELP!

Is there any way to just completely disconnect and disarm the system by removing wires/fuses etc. that's pretty simple? I have the starter kill so I don't want anything that's going to mess with that and leave me completely dead in the water (not like I'm not dead in the water already), just looking for an easy solution....

The backlight doesnt light up when I press the button, but it does come back at me with beeps like it's out of range. Also even though the system is armed the icon on the remote is in the unlocked position.

Pearl96Max (Don) installed the alarm, I've already PM'd him but as I kind of need to use the car soon I figured I'd post on the forum as well.

it's actually easy, theres gonna be wires up there taped with black electrical tape.. just untape them and take the wire that belongs to the viper away and retape that wire. you have to reconnect starter wire, you'll notice the are seperate. tape everything back together.. and make sure while you taping to touch NO ground!!!

Ok, from sitting in the car with the lights blinking (siren would be sounding but that's long dead now), I can re-set the alarm using the "lock" button on the remote... remote has to be pointed right at the antenna but it does work, apparently that's how I got into this mess in the first place.

None of the other buttons on the remote are received by the antenna. There is visable and audible feedback on the remote when I push the "unlock" button, but nothing is received on the car's end - but the "lock" button I can get to work once in a while by sitting in the car and pointing it right at the antenna. This of course helps no one or nothing.... how do I take apart the remote, these two small screws on the back?

I do not suggest disconnecting the alarm. This can be remedied without it.

How, I'm not sure, but I definitely know its not an actual physical wiring problem.

Have you tried calling Don? 732-572-1969 is the number at the shop.

Ok well I hope he checks the boards from home. Is there a fuse that I can disconnect or something? Thanks for your help so far guys. Any clue about what the remote stuff I posted above at 5:54pm could signify?

Thsi would certainly be Wrong advice, especially if the whole point is to disarm WITHOUT a transmitter, how do you plan on pressing a button if the transmitter
doesnt work?

Furthermore, the correct way to do it is...keys ON, within 15 secs press AND LET GO of the valet button, within a few seconds it should stop.

I'm so awesome.

I used a pair of pliers to help me press hard enough on the other button, and I hit the jackpot.

Remind me never to touch anything ever again... alarm is going in the trash as soon as possible. Thanks for your quick replies.

whoa whoa...how about just a replacement remote?

No need to be trashing things when clearly they still work.

Umm a replacement remote would resolve this. Not trashing a perfectly good alarm. For some reason Im thinking you were doing something wrong trying to disable it...

How short did you cut the wire? Can't even solder or butt more wire on?

You're thinking wrong - I'm not a child and I don't have any disabilities that would cause me to not be able to follow instructions. After I exerted an extreme amount of pressure on the disarm button (read: using pliers), the system disarmed. I wrote to you in PM the steps I took with the valet switch, following every instruction listed in this thread.

I probably do need a new remote, but the conclusion that you reached was 110% incorrect.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I cut it about three inches from the siren. In the case that I ever want to use the alarm again (I hadn't used it in a long, long time), I'll just get it replaced.

you can connect practically nonexistent wire with solder...

tape it up and no need for a new siren.

Whoa, take it down a notch buddy, theres no need to comeback like that. Where and when did I imply that you were a child or have a disability of some sort? I know how it is to get frustrated and at times mistakes are made. That is All that I implied, so you can just take it easy on the defensive side.

Yes you would need a new remote, in which case IF its not physically destroyed, then I would be more than happy to replace it for you.
