Arc Audio KAR series 12" sub's

anyone know anything about these? I have 2 JL 10's right now, thinking of going to one 12, would this be a good sub?

Switched to dual 10's, had some extra money. Also wanted a better amp setup, and a dual box would have allowed me to do that.

Mine was a D4, powered by an Arc Kar 900.1D

Don run's Arc subs in his own car. That says something right there.

Ask the seller for that one. Id venture to say that Don does way too much business to remember the impedance of the subs he sells to everyone.

One of the best sounding subs for the money. If I can Ill find the review that was published a bit further back in one of the magazines. Bang for buck it would be one if not the Top choice for me.

Im not sure which impedance Jih had, Ill try to find out though. You certainly wont be dissapointed if you go that route. They take very little airspace and a forgiving if its a bit off.

despite t/s specs you can usually change a subs output by making a bigger box...if you want low low bass just lower the QTC of the sealed box.(the larger the sealedr box, the lower the QTC) I had 2 10" subs that went lower than my 15" ported does...all due to vastly different box designs. I have not personally heard an Arc sub yet but if Don sells it and recommends it, its good stuff.

sure. there are plenty of good brands out there. Tell us exactly what you want from the sub: type of sound, your rough budget, the type of box (I assume sealed), and how much rms power you have and at what ohms, then we can take it from there.

It was actually in your shop. Awaiting a home.

I think it was a single 10. Very clean for the low power you were giving it.

I'm looking for deep bass with good sound quality, but I'd also like a good hard hitting sub that sounds good with a variety of music. RIght now I have two JL audio 10's in a sealed box, they are pretty old, but they hit hard. They have a decent amount of low bass, I just want more. They sound great but I'm ready for something different. I'm not sure about the specs on my amp, its a Soundstream Reference 405. I tried looking them up on the internet, but didn't have any luck. If someone could help me out with it, I'd sure appreciate it. I would really like to stay around $150, but would be willing to pay a little more if needed to make a difference. And yes, I would be going with a sealed box. I'm never had a ported box, heard several, but I've never heard one that sounds good with the variety of music I listen to. Hope this helps.... not good at explaining what I want, lol.

That was the Alumapro BP-10, with a lil PG 60-80watt amp.

That's right. That was just before we put the Alumapro's in Jeremy's car.

I would look at a single 12 or 15...I found some specs of that amp on some forum but it did not say the power at what ohms. contact the manufacturer for correct specs. I like the idea of a single 15 but a 15 is probably out of your budget.

ah chit.......I didn't even think about a 15..... hmm...... no dammit, no. LOL I think I'll stick with a 12.... but mang, tempted to go 15... but I'll get over that. I'll get the specs for my amp and get back to you. Thanks for you help. I found the owners manual on a site, but it didn't give the specs, prolly the same you found. Anyway, thanks, I'll get them specs shortly.

don't get over it...do it! it will give you the output and low end you want. I'm going from ported to sealed with my 15 and I will be making a thread about it soon enough.

yeah I assume this amp is underrated a bit too. I would find a dual 2 sub or a dvc4 sub to run at 1 or 2 ohms...the lower the ohm the more power your amp puts out.

well do you want 1 or 2 subs? if you want 2 subs get 2 DVC4 subs to get a 1 ohm load. if not, a single 15 dvc2 will work well.

I think I'm gonna go with 1 single DVC2.... but what should I get? I haven't kept up with the audio market lately.

thats tough...finding a single 12 or 15 under $150 thats dvc2 is not easy. typically a 15" dvc2 sub needs some good power to get it moving.

well, I've done come to the conclusion that I'll be spending more than $150 on this, but I think it will be worth it. As far as power, I could run the sub on the sub channel and channels 3 and 4. Then run my mids and tweets on 1 and 2. ooooooooooh...

and where is Don when you need him? lol
