optimayellow top or soundstream 2 farad capacitor

hey i have a choice between an optima yellow or blue top or a 2 farad capacitor, which should i get? theyre both at the same price

yellow top is expensive, even at jobber price, came out o 150

Yep, that is a pretty good price too. I paid $160 for mine and haven't regreted it one bit. Money well spent IMHO.

Optima yellow tops have a reputation for being useless.

Upgrade wiring/big three.
Costco house brand Deep cycle marine battery,
if you're still having problems, look into a high output alternator.

that is the first time i have ever heard something bad about an optima.

i'm putting out 13.8 volts now. so will the optima put me at 14.5+?

Before my OptimaYT, I was always dead on 13.8. After I added it 14.4-14.5. Since I added the big three, 14.4-14.5. I consider that to be very far from useless. But whatever floats your boat.

A lot of money for a product that has a reputation for dying an early death. Glad you got one that's working for you. All of em don't do that well apparently.

Back to the original question, ecko, you're ACTUALLY asking which would be more beneficial to your setup?!

Caps are no more than a gimmick, a bandaid for a system that is lacking in other areas, mainly, wiring.
