getting some new subs i think

I got some alpine type-E 10's for about $120 a few weeks ago.. They sound really good but just don't hit quite hard enough... Good low budget sub i recommend them however i wanna upgrade to the type-S since they are dual 4ohm and i can throw more power at them... does anyone know of anyone who have these? I will probaly have to change boxes too since i only have a .65 per sub box... I believe that's the minimum for the type-S..

what do you think of the comp vr series? there the same price as the alpines and are rated to 25hz.......... I would need a bigger box for them though

wanna stay with 10's due to space and price.. as for box just a sealed

The comps have a minimum space of 0.8 cubic feet my box is 0.75 cubic feet... Will it have enough air space, that sounds really close..

Im not in it for competion just hella good sound

From what I know and still according to the Image Dynamics site, sounddomain.com is the only authorized online Image Dynamics retailer.

But IMO there are a lot fo better options than the Alpines or Kicker IMO...Image Dynamics being one of them.

Why do you want DVC? Why would that matter if the subs together achieve the impedence to match your amp.

Are you looking for loud or sound quality?

Seriously just invest in one REALLY NICE sub. Then from there go with a custom box that will take full advantage of the subs specs.

I would suggest a single 4 ohm coil sub or dual 2 ohm so you can achieve a 4 ohm load and bridge the amp to that. A good setup will **** on those two subs.

I am going to play devli's advocate here and suggest going with two Alpine Type-R's...that should run you $200. Spend the remaining on having a custom box built for you. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you strike me as an SPL-oriented listener, of which the R's will more than satiate the desire. But I cannot harp on the importance of the box size. MAKE SURE it is being built by someone who know wtf they are doing, has it tuned to the correct frequency, and dB rating (contingent upon the amps). Good luck with whatever you decide!

If your going to go with COMP VR's you might as well stay with ur Type E's. No real point in changing those out for worse subs.

go 2 10" comp vr's ported and you will like it...or better yet 1 15" ported. Kicker is stepping it up again and apparently the CVX's are like the old round solos of yesteryear.

You really think the comp vr's are going to be better than those e-'s? I highly doubt it. Those CVX's do look sweet. I miss the original solo's though.

LOL don't you recommend anything ED...we all know those subs are ED "rejects" as Ben Milne put it. and yes Type E subs suck at life plain and simple. its more compareable to a kicker comp than a comp VR.

Hmm. I had a Type E for a little while in my Max. It wasnt that great, but it sounded better than an Audiobahn Flame Series 10" that I had before. It was a bargain for me seeing as I bought it brand new with a sealed box for $12.76.

Well i got two kicker comp vr 10's and a new box.. Box specs are 32x14x16 and the volume per sub is 1.25... There rated sealed .08-.30, ported 1.25-1.75.. my box comes with ports so i will probaly port them after they break in of course... Despite the bad comments i know there gonna sound way better than those type-e's... they were good for a base line model but i needed something i could throw a little more to.. Plus there freq. is way down to 25hz, i can feel my eyeballs rattling already

Everything should be here next week hopefully so i can install them and keep u posted..

damn my budget recommendation of 2 10" comp VR's ported had better results than I expected...did not know it would rattle eyeballs at 25hz.

Look i was just joking around, seems there's only 3 guys in here that comments on every post, nismos14, slickrick, and "the don".. and with the exception of nismos14 if you don't say your getting arc, diamond, or image dynamics then you suck.. That's great that those others are what god has in his ride, but i don't have $1000 to spend on subs either. Yes im ranting about it, i just want something simple im not entering a spl contest.. I appreciate the help but hate a smart a**..

Actually for the money I like the comp VRs. I was actually lost on the enclosure you got...

"my box comes with ports so i will probaly port them after they break in of course..."

Not exactly how things work...

Ya.... why would you port them AFTER they break in? And this means the box isn't tuned to the subs its prefab. Pop the ports on right from the start.

BTW how much did u spend?
