which arc sub do i want.....

So i'm getting the Arc audio KAR 900.1D amp from djfrestyl (i'm putting the money in the bank today and i'll have it sent paypal tomorrow)

do i wanna get two Arc series 12D4's
http://www.arcaudio.com/arc-05/subwoofers.htm

or 1 arc series 15D4
http://www.arcaudio.com/arc-05/subwoofers/arc_15d4.htm

one one of these bad boys, hehehe
http://www.arcaudio.com/arc-05/subwoofers/flat_12d4.htm

even though the flatline would be just slightly underpowered, give me some ideas cause i'm hoping to have a setup change by the end of this month, tired of my JL audio sub/fosgate amp setup, ready to go with someone everyone says is awesome, lemme know

Zack

Arc flatline is my 1st choice because nobody has them and the design is a proven one. my close second choise is the 15".

I'd do the 15"....dont know why its not recommended above but its a beast-it shares motor/suspension with the Flatline.

Either the 15" or dual Arc 12's will give you more cone area and SPL than a single Flatline.

why do you say not to do the 15?? The one Arc series 15D4 requires what the amp can put out at 2ohms, not at 1ohm, so it would work nice, 2 12's would give me more surface area though. can the 15 keep up with fast beats like a 12 can. I do listen to rap, but i also listen to rock just as much, if the 15 can't keep up i'll just get 2 12's, but if it can, i might try the 15, and seeing how i'm getting a new max in about a month, why not try something new with the system as well, eh?? lol

hey don got any prices for me?? lol the closest dealer to me is ohh......120 miles away i think, so could i just order it through you??

next question is, if i go with the 15, should i port it or seal the box, with it being a 15 i dunno

size of the sub isn't really an issue anymore when it comes to its response. it might be the case decades ago. my 15 RL-p is fast, and can still get very low.

sealed will yield better sq, ported will be louder (and take up more trunk room).

so i decided on the 15, with the arc audio KAR series, 900.1D amp, but i'm kinda having some problems designing the box for it, any suggestions, it needs to be 2.25cubic ft (sealed), clearance is the biggest issue, hey gordon didn't you have a 15 in your 3rd gen?? if so how'd you design your box?

yeah, same box i'm using in the 6th gen now. i forgot exact measurements, but it was 24" wide. i can get the height and depth for ya tomorrow. mine's 2.0 net...around 2.2 gross.

i think it said net, im' not sure i'll find it in a minute, thanks gordon, just having some problems with height really, i can make up for it in width and depth to get the right cubic feet though, i had a plan, really dad did, lol, to build the box, and then make it look like a wall, so you can't see behind it, and have the amp mounted in the wall, can't really explain, kinda looks like what you have right now gordon, but i gotta get another arc amp for my back speakers, they make an amp that pushes bout 100 RMS each channel?? should be all i need for the rear speakers

eh, amp the front, not the rears IMO. unless you're getting a 4 channel amp. but my 2100-xxk is rated at 100 x 2 @ 4 ohms, but the birthsheet says otherwise

once the rainbow comes in, the only thing "un-amped" will be my rear speakers. my HU will power those.

well i didnt' need to amp the rear till i bought the new ones and now they're badly under powered by my HU, the front are basically being powered just right (for now that is, until i upgrade) so i need something for the rear so they'll work properly
