Yes it would. If it's sealed your sub is effectively suffocating.

small sealed box, and yet boomy bass response? check the xover frequency on your amp. it might be set a little too high.

hmm, it's easy to check. do you know the exact amp model you have? we can coach you to check from here if you know the model.

its the audiobahn (crap ino) a8002t.... i have a jvc 5100 (the one that plays dvds) and im using the bose speakers for now.... my problem is that i want the kick to be heard more so than it is.... all that comes out of my subs is like a delay kick and insane bass.... as i said for most rap songs it sounds good but i dont listen to just rap

alrighty...see "x-over" on the left part of the amp? set that to LPF. then on the dial right to that, is the **** to adjust the x-over frequency. where do you have it set to? turn that dial to about halfway...which is roughly 80hz.

I would reset the gains and crossover frequency. Its probably too high. Also if you have a bass boost setting, set it to zero.Get some polyfill if you haven't already and stuff that box.

polyfill won't help with punchy response...might actually make the situation worse by actually augmenting boomy bass response. smalled sealed enclosure should provide a nice punchy output. only thing i can think of is the xover is set way too high.

basically pillow stuffing. when used in a sealed box, it tricks the sub into thinking it's in a larger box, helping with the lower bass output.

i have the same box from worstbuy, it's .65 but mine is dual... add the polyfill cause it does help a slight bit.. BTW what x-over freq. do you guys recommend as a "base" setting or does it just depend on the sound your looking for?

depends on your setup and how well it blends with each component. i have mine set at 80. no point IMO for the sub to play any higher where a decent component set should be able to reproduce.

I have mine set at 100. I find that I like the sound better. It may be me, but I have never had anyone sit in my car and say they could even tell.

No and I honestly don't believe you. JK, however I believe your subs can handle it with ease. Next time you roll by I wanna really listen to see if I can tell.

I dunno seemed like a good place to start, maybe i'll go down to 80hz with the new subs.... I don't like that high, vibrating my trunk bass anyway.

from my experiences...low freq does a hell of a lot more flexing on car panels thann higher bass frequencies.
