system help

Ok, as u guys probaly know i got 2 kicker comp vr 10's in a sealed box (1.25 ft per sub).... they sound ok now, but like anyone else i would like to see if i could sqeeze a little more sound out of them... I'am kinda fresh to the sub's so any help would be appreciated.. Would it be worth porting my box for some added bass (box came ready for this with ports included) or should i try putting a little more watts on them? I have 200rms on them now, their rated 300rms in a sealed box/200rms ported.. Do u think the sq would sound better with more watts/sealed............ Or same watts/ported

Also i know i could damage them if i port the box without a ssf right? I have no $ to spend for different subs so please don't tell me to get new ones... I'am happy with the comps, they sound way better than my friends jl's anyway...... Thanks guys

port them. I doubt the low end will be as good because they will probably be tuned around 40hz but they should get a good bit louder.

lol it's like pledging. anyway, you are better off porting the box 1st to save $; and because they aren't amazing speakers that need alot of power to reach their output capabilities.

oh it is the port length which determines the tuning of the box. My guess is it is tuned in the high 30's-40hz.

the longer the port the lower the frequency but the port diameter plays a role in ported box design also.

the ports that came with the box are exactly 12" long x 3" wide so should i adjust the lenght or leave it alone

well you can't just add length to a box because you lose internal volume. Contact Kicker and tell them you want to be tuned to 30-35hz and if thats possible with the provided PVC.

Try it out first and see how you like it, then go from there.
