Lowes sells a 7/16" thick padding with a plastic sheeting backing to block moisture. I'm going to go buy enough to line the floor of my car with today, and then the next project will be putting it in the doors. I think if I apply it with the foam side to the metal, and leave the plastic backing exposed, any moister that gets into the door will just roll down the plastic instead of get absorbed by the foam. After that, I'll apply it to the roof.....

OK, floor is done. I used the 6lb stuff instead of the 8lb cause the guy at Lowes was too lazy to pull out a roll.LOL Got 90 sq. ft for $25, and and thats quite a bit. I found you can't put more thn one layer down, due to the padding already there. Not too hard, and it feels much plusher now, so when I cool down ( i got overheated, no ventelation in my shop) I'll take it for a drive to see if there is a difference. Tonight, once it's cooler, I'm going to apply some to the door panels and see what affect that has. Now if only I knew how to remove the headliner to cover the roof. Does anyone know how to remove it? Is it just one big panel, held on by some screws, or is it some kind of a nightmare ?

Okee Dokee. The doors are done!! I don't have the nerve to tackle the roof. Took it for a test drive, and there is a noticeable difference. Well worth the $25 investment ( not including 3M spray glue) The door panel fits, but it's snug. I applied it to the entire inside of the panel of each door, cutting and using smaller pieces to ease the handling and placement.
The results:
Engine noise has not changed. Probably because i didn't tackle the firewall. (Call me lazy, plus the Maxima has quite a bit of padding already up front.) I also hear my tires,( noisy POS Eagle HPs's!!).
BUT!!!! That's about all I hear. wind noise has ben cut down quite a bit. I hear it mostly through the windows, but nothing else. I do not hear ( for the most part) other cars as they pass by.
When playing music, the midbass is less resonant, tighter, and cleaner, and when playing it at volume, I now have to play it around 3 notches less than before.

Overall, my recommendation, is if you have a free day, you have $30 for supplies, and a cool place to work, DO IT. Well worth it...........

Hmm....i see you went the sweetsound route :d
Yea, it helps but not that much. I would say my car is 4-5 db quieter than it was before and ive installed more sound deadening in it than ANYONE else on this board. I got rid of all body panel rattles, except center console and a couple of glovebox. My next project is to finish deadening the rear deck, do the rear pillars and spray the wheel wells with rubberized undercoat. Hopefully this will help road noise a bit. My door panels are so deadened, they weight about 12-15 pounds each compared to stock 3-4 pounds
That means when my music plays, there is no resonance.
I will post some pics of this weekends fun later on.

Take care

I wish I had a digi cam so I could snap some pics. I'll try to when I'm done. You read my mind on the grill cover. I'm cutting out the slats in mine and covering it in black. I'm also building a mount thats angled to I can get a little aim out of it.

The headliner is a pain. I started removing mine once but didn't get around to getting it all the way down. You have to remove pretty much every panel that butts up against it, the visors, pull down handles and center roof lamp. And I think the forward roof mounted sunroof control and lamp.
