Slickrick's Deadening Worklog

I have 140 sq ft of SS Damplifier which I am putting all over the max. Kevin (kpr10is) is installing the deadener due to his extensive knowledge of the 5th gen max. Now onto the pix...

the max stripped:

front done:

NICE. I have to do this this summer.

Your carpet is nice and clean. Did you shampoo it when it was out of the car? I'm **** and will probably get new carpet...

Come to Jersey. Not so much heat, lots more rain.

And garbage dumps. And smelly factories.

lol hell no. I wanted to but due to time constraints (finals and stuff) I just tried some cheap carpet cleaner. I thought it was dirty but I am glad it doesnt look too bad. I highly recommend it because tapping the roof makes me feel like I have a quality car. Had a quick rain test and heard ZERO rain drops on the roof.

How long did it take you guys? I can imagine that taking maybe all of one day.

well it took about 3 hours to disassemble the car, do the floor and roof. we also put the headliner back on in that 3 hours. it took a good while to put the car back together and deaden the A pillars and B pillars. I helped move stuff around which saved a few minutes.

Ya sounds about right. With a helper and a nice open driveway on a nice day this can be done in the main portion of a day.

well I did the "foam" trick following kojiro's write up, but with the bass I have the foam becomes useless. I am looking for a new rear deck. I want to screw down a piece of birch over the bose cutout then deadener over the whole rear deck. my ghetto bose cutout simply did not give me the results I wanted.

Nice work man.

BTW, do you have 300zx calipers? Or know someone that does on a 5th gen in Gainesville? I was there a few weeks ago to sign up for my apartment(Melrose)

I will post pix once it is done. I have driven with it, but the rear deck is off so there is plenty of road noise.

excellent work on the car. Did you drive it yet to test the road noise now? And what was the road noise like before deadening? Is there a big difference? I am considering this as a summer project.

Good job man. I've already completed the wheel wells, roof, a & b pillars and doors. Floor and rear deck are next with the trunk being last.
