Installing newer OEM HU in 3rd Gen
Installing newer OEM HU in 3rd Gen
I have a 93 Max with a NON-BOSE audio system. It is the single din set up, and works just great for my needs. I'm 100% OK with the sound quality, except for the fact that it only plays cassettes. I don't own any of these ancient devicese, so i'd like to upgrade to an in dash cd player. I hate the way aftermarket HU's look, so thats not an option. I was wondering if I could install a newer HU from another nissan into my car. I realize I'd be looking for NON-BOSE unit, such as this...

Is this possible? Thanks!

Is it possible? Yes. But definitely not plug and play. For anything to be plug and play in your car youd have to use a radio from a Nissan from 1994-down, because the wiring harness changed for 1995. To put that radio in the right way without chopping the factory harness, youd have to buy the 94-down Nissan harness, and a 95-up factory rewire harness, and wire the two together to convert the plugs in your dash to the 95-up style.
You really should go aftermarket though, your only going to keep having problems with factory equipment.
