4 Channel to 2 Channel, and Amp High Watt w/ average Watt speakers?

I'm looking for a new amp that will cool better, and so far have found an Infinity(good brand?) with 111 RMS x4 that seems to have gotten some good reviews on Crutchfield, and wanted to know some things:

I currently have a 30W set of rears and a 40W set of fronts for speakers, but plan to upgrade later. Should I do new speakers first since the speakers and the new amp would have a huge gap in power? Or would they be fine to do later?

Also, I have a 4 channel currently, and was looking at a 4 channel again because wires I figure would be very easy to swap out. A friend suggested going to a 2 channel, yes, i'd lose fade, but my options are much more. Is it tough to go to a 2 channel with 4 channel wiring(aka, without rewiring the car, only worrying what's at the current amp input)?

Also, I apologize for all the posts, just want to be sure before I spend any money.

Definately go with a 4 channel. Having a higher powererd 4 channel will be fine as long as you set the high pass filters properly.

Ok, hate to ask, but what are good brands of amps then? Everyone I seem to look at isn't too good, but i'm looking for one that will last, and will cool good. What brands are good to look at?

Wow, I feel like an idiot, saw the post in the FAQ thread with the good amp brands, d'oh!

On another forum they didn't seem to like Polks too much, so welp, looks like i'm gonna have to settle(as if it's a bad thing ) for Rainbows once I have the $$

Already am looking for better, lol. But man, i'm going crazy, looked at all the brands in the FAQ thread, and either:
A)It's vastly overbudget for me
B)I can't even FIND the prices(no online sales)
C)No dealer even nearby nor eBay sales.

I'm freaking out here, to power Rainbows, and not over heat, what is a moderately priced amp(4 Channels)? That is easy to find.

I have a 2 channel that will power them just fine.

Sorry to double post...but i've been looking into the 2 channel...if I powered the fronts with those, and ran the rears to the deck, would this sound alright, and would it be tough to rewire?

Ya it would be fine, the wiring part may be a little bit of a pita, but nothing too difficult.

You just have to run the speaker wire from the doors to your deck. Then speaker wire from your front doors to your amp.

note you won't even hear your rear speakers, the amount of power in the front will not allow you to hear your rears. only if really listen..it's gonna end up not being worth it... GOOD fronts will project a better signal and you wont need rears cause it will be more than enough for the entire car.

ABSOLUTELY WRONG.
Why wouldn't you hear your rears? The ability to set proper gains and front/rear balance will give you enough versatility to "hear" your rears for fill.

I agree that good fronts should suffice for the entire car, but thats a subjective opinion. If the guy wants rear sound, let him have it, but don't tell him that he won't hear his rears.

This is what a guy suggested to me from CarAudioForum. Should I use 4 Channel instead and fully power the rears still? He just suggested it to save money, but with Rainbows, and a Phoenix Gold amp, doesn't sound like too bad of a deal to me.
