04 Maxima install help?

Before you say anything, I've been reading threads as far back as last May for this info. That's alot of damn threads!!!!

04 Maxima SE

I am in need of the following info:
Where do I get the dash plate for an aftermarket cd player to be put in?
Wiring harness for aftermarket, and wiring harness to use steering controls?
Also, the Pioneer we have has XM enabled, do I need to buy anything extra to use it in the Max?

Thanks for your help, and this is going in for a Mothers Day present!

Any stereo shop can get you the dash kit and wiring harness. Or online. Metra's part numbers are 99-7404 and 70-7550 respectively.

The steering wheel control adapter depends on what radio you have. For some Pioneer decks you can get the PAC SWI-PS (only if your deck has a wired remote input) so your steering controls can be hardwired, if not youll have to get the SWI-X which is a universal adapter that mounts an infrared eye somewhere in the car aimed at the deck.

Yes, you will need a separate tuner box for XM.

Metra makes them. You can get them online, CC, BB, Crutchfield- same goes for wiring harness.

Steering wheel controls for your Pioneer (if it's learnable) is the made by PAC.

You probably need an XM tuner to hook up to your Pioneer deck, along with the service itself.

Thanks for your help.

However I got in a chat session with one of the people @ Crutchfield, and they state that the PAC cannot be used on our model.

Any input?

Here is a quote taken from our conversation, from the tech:

"There is no way to keep the steering wheel controls on that car.. sorry.. "

When asked about the products PAC makes, the techs reply:

"Yes, and that works for many cars.. but not for that one.. sorry I dont have better news"

So where do I go from here? I don't want to purchase it only to find out it doesn't work. In other threads where members have asked about steering controls, everyone says to use the PAC products. Any input?

Also the model of Pioneer deck is the DEH-P6400
